Consolidate home & living, furniture and general cargo from any Chinese supplier at our Guangdong hub, inspect every item, and ship to your UK address with import VAT and duty handled the predictable way.
Two numbers decide what your consignment costs at the border.
UK VAT at 20% is normally collected by the seller or platform at the point of sale. Duty relief applies to most categories, but VAT does not disappear — it moves earlier in the chain.
The consignment becomes a normal import: import VAT plus customs duty at the commodity-code rate, collected at the border before delivery.
If you buy from five suppliers, five small parcels each look cheap but each collects its own charges. One consolidated consignment is one declaration and one set of fees.
| Mode | Door to door (typical) | UK gateways |
|---|---|---|
| Sea LCL | 40–55 days door to door | Felixstowe / Southampton / London Gateway |
| Sea FCL | Similar sailing, faster handling | Full container, your own seal |
| Air line | 6–12 days door to door | Heathrow / East Midlands |
Ranges are typical, not promises — peak season and sailing schedules move them. We confirm the date in writing with the quote.
The UK fire-safety rules for furniture and furnishings apply to domestic upholstered goods. We check labels and hang-tags before a crate is closed.
All solid-wood packing must be ISPM-15 heat-treated and stamped. Our crates are built and marked on site.
If you are UK VAT-registered, give us the number and it goes on the commercial invoice so import VAT can be recovered through your return.
Vague invoices are the number one cause of delays. We describe what the goods actually are, per line item.
Any supplier, any platform, weighed and photographed within 2 hours of arrival.
Full-resolution photos and video of every item. You approve before paying anything.
Multiple orders become one consignment with one clean invoice.
Crated where needed, trucked to the port, documents issued the same day.
Straight answers — no small print games. Our full policies are on the terms page.
For consignments worth £135 or less, the seller or platform is expected to charge UK VAT (20%) at the point of sale rather than at the border. Above £135 the shipment becomes a normal import: import VAT plus customs duty at the rate for the commodity code. The £135 figure is a collection threshold, not a free allowance — VAT is a real cost either way, and the relief is scheduled to end by 2029.
UK duty depends entirely on the commodity code and can range from zero to roughly 12% for typical home and furniture lines, with some categories going higher. Send us your product list and we will check the code and duty position with your forwarder before the goods leave China, so your landed cost is decided in advance.
Yes. Commercial invoice with accurate descriptions, quantities, unit values and HS codes, plus a packing list showing how the consignment is packed. Upholstered furniture also needs the labelling that the UK fire-safety rules require, and we flag that before dispatch rather than letting it be discovered at the port.
For most home and furniture cargo yes — several of our forwarders offer duty-paid door delivery to UK postcodes. You pay one number and nothing is collected on delivery. If you prefer DAP, expect the carrier's handling fee (often around £8 for postal clearance, more for courier brokerage) on top of the duty itself.
Typically 40–55 days door to door by sea LCL via Felixstowe or Southampton, and about 6–12 days by air line. Add a few days if you need crating or testing before dispatch — we always tell you the dispatch date in writing.
